Xtreme Gaming has won the Clavision Snow Ruyi Dota 2 Invitational in a thrilling grand final showdown against the reigning TI champion Team Spirit. Xtreme Gaming emerged victorious with a convincing 3-1 scoreline.
This championship marks Xtreme Gaming's third title of the year, solidifying their position as one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world. Following their previous triumphs at Games of the Future 2024 and Elite League Season 1, this latest victory gives them a boost heading into TI13.
Xtreme Gaming had a rocky start to the tournament, placing third in their group. Despite this, they secured a spot in the upper bracket playoffs, beginning their run in the first round. Meanwhile, Team Spirit, who topped their group, received a bye and advanced directly to the second round of the upper bracket.
However, XG was a different beast in the playoffs, not losing a single series and defeating NAVI and G2.iG in the first two rounds. They faced Team Spirit in the upper bracket finals and handily defeated them in straight games, thus securing their spot in the grand finals.
However, Team Spirit wasn’t about to give up and defeated a resurgent Nigma Galaxy, albeit with stand-ins, in the lower bracket finals.
The finale was set – Xtreme Gaming vs. Team Spirit.
Would Xtreme Gaming be able to overcome Team Spirit and exact vengeance for their PGL Wallachia S1 finals defeat? They certainly did!
Xtreme Gaming (XG) dominated the first two games, but Team Spirit (TS) swiftly responded with a decisive victory in under 30 minutes to make it 2-1. With momentum on their side, TS seemed poised to clinch the series in game four. However, XG staged a remarkable comeback, securing the final game and claiming the tournament championship.
With this impressive victory under their belt, Xtreme Gaming will undoubtedly be a team to watch at TI13. Can they end China’s TI drought and reclaim the Aegis for their country? Well, this victory does set the rhythm for them and on a good note.
It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold for the Chinese Dota 2 team at TI and future tournaments.
