Nouns take down the favourites Shopify Rebellion in the TI13 North America regional qualifiers to qualify for The International 2024 in an unprecedented lower bracket run and qualify for their second The International (TI) appearance.
Nouns secure the lone spot allocated to North America in the regional qualifiers by defeating Shopify Rebellions, the regional heavyweights, in the best-of-five grand finals.
Nouns’ journey in the upper bracket of the TI13 North America Regional Qualifiers began against 4 Amigos, followed by Apex Genesis, both series going to full three games.
Tal “Fly” Aizik and co., ended up winning both the series with a 2:1 score and proceeded to face Shopify Rebellions in the upper bracket finals.
On the other hand, Shopify Rebellion, with Mind_Control’s recent inclusion, powered through the upper bracket, defeating their opponents in straight games and eventually set up an encounter with Nouns – the team who defeated them for a slot at The Riyadh Masters 2024.
SR won against Nouns in the upper bracket final with a 2:1 score and inched a step closer to qualifying for TI13 in the grand finals. With only one slot being allocated to North America, SR couldn’t relish this victory as it awaited its grand final opponent coming from the lower bracket.
After being sent to the lower bracket, Nouns, who’ve been in terrific form recently, defeated Apex Genesis once again to book a date with Shopify Rebellion in the grand finals of TI13 North America Regional Qualifiers.
Shopify Rebellion awaited Nouns in the best-of-five grand finals in a bid to qualify for the crown jewel Dota 2 tournament – The International (TI).
The grand finals was a one-sided affair with Nouns defeating Shopify Rebellion in consecutive games to secure a 3:0 victory, echoing the storyline of the Dota 2 Riyadh Masters 2024 qualifiers, where Nouns defeated SR in a lower-bracket run, after suffering a loss in the upper bracket finals.
The standout moment during the grand final series in the TI13 North America Regional Qualifiers between Shopify Rebellion vs. Nouns was Gunnar’s outstanding performance on Dark Seer.
The young gun powered the team through rough phases throughout the series, and came in clutch with handy gameplays, setting up team fights in his team’s favour.
Nouns comfortably secure a spot at The International 2024 (TI13) after securing a spot at the Riyadh Masters 2024, defeating the heavy favourites twice.
This victory marks Tal “Fly” Aizik’s tenth consecutive appearance at The International since the good old Fnatic days, and unfortunately for Arteezy, puts a stop at his tenth TI appearance with SR’s inability to secure the lone NA spot for TI13.
