In a thrilling grand finale, Team Liquid emerged victorious as the winners of Elite League Season 2 after defeating 1win in the best-of-five grand finals which went to a full five-game series. The Western European powerhouse showcased exceptional skill, teamwork, and strategic prowess to claim its first LAN victory in 2024.
Team Liquid's journey to the Elite League Season 2 championship was a rollercoaster of emotions. The team started strong, sharing the top spot with OG in the group stage's initial phase. However, they finished fourth in the second phase of the group stage, narrowly escaping relegation to the lower bracket playoffs.
The playoffs marked a resurgence for Team Liquid. They confidently eliminated OG in the upper bracket semifinals only to suffer a disappointing defeat against 1win in the upper bracket final. Dropped to the lower bracket, they battled back, defeating Boom Esports to secure a rematch with 1win in the grand final.
The grand final was a thrilling back-and-forth affair. Team Liquid took the first game, but 1win responded to level the series. Undeterred, Team Liquid claimed the third game, only for 1win to force a decisive fifth game. In a climactic showdown, Team Liquid's signature heroes – Morphling, Ember Spirit, and Pangolier – proved instrumental as they secured a hard-fought victory, clinching the Elite League Season 2 championship.
Team Liquid walks away with $240,000 and the winner’s trophy for their hard-fought endeavour while 1win secures $120,000 and has to remain content being the runner’s up.
