The regional qualifiers for the Dota 2 Riyadh Masters 2024 have ended and the final set of teams locked in for the $5,000,000 event.
It was announced as part of the Esports World Cup line-up and serves as the final championship of the second season of the ESL Pro Tour.
Let’s take a look at the list of teams qualified for the event:
Eight Dota 2 teams have qualified directly to the group stage of the Riyadh Masters 2024 via the EPT Leaderboard. They are:
These teams accrued enough EPT points to ensure a direct qualification for the event because of their performance across ESL-sanctioned tournaments like ESL One and DreamLeague.
Twelve spots were up for contention through the regional qualifiers for the Riyadh Masters 2024 or the Esports World Cup and would be seeded into the Play-In stage.
The slots were allocated region-wise: China (3), West Europe (2), Southeast Asia (2) and South America (2), East Europe (1), MENA (1) and North America (1).
After a gruelling set of regional (closed) qualifiers, the remaining teams for the Riyadh Masters 2024 have been determined:
There have notably been a few exceptional performances in the regional qualifiers for the event. In WEU qualifiers, Secret couldn’t get past Entity and Mouz in two consecutive finals, and thus don’t qualify for the Riyadh Masters 2024.
Virtus Pro has been a dominant force in East Europe and with a sound victory over NAVI, twice, has qualified for the event. They look well set up for The International 2024 (TI13) closed qualifiers as one of the favourites.
LGD Gaming has been a surprise with the team performing well against other Chinese teams.
They defeated Azure Ray and were the second team from China to qualify for the event. For a new team, the players look in sync and with the TI13 China closed qualifiers on the horizon, the battle will heat up.
Lastly, the event's biggest upset is Nouns defeating Shopify Rebellion to secure the only spot reserved for North America. They take down SR in a five-game thriller and qualify for the Dota 2 Riyadh Masters 2024.
Like China, this momentum will be useful for Nouns heading into the TI13 North America closed qualifiers.
The stage for the Riyadh Masters 2024 is set as the world’s best Dota 2 teams compete for the coveted trophy and the lion’s share of the prize pool of the $5,000,000 event. Are you ready for some exciting Dota 2 games?
