GG & Team Liquid top 3 at Riyadh Masters 2024
Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid secured a top 3 finish at the Riyadh Masters 2024 Playoffs after defeating Team Falcons and Tundra Esports in the upper bracket respectively. Meanwhile, OG bites the dust as the two-time TI champs are eliminated from the Esports World Cup.
GG & Liquid reach Riyadh Masters UB Finals
Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid secure an upper bracket finals faceoff at the Riyadh Masters 2024 Playoffs after engaging in a thrilling best-of-three (Bo3) series against Team Falcons and Tundra Esports, respectively.
Gaimin Gladiators were on the back foot after losing the first game against Team Falcons in 32 minutes, however, they were determined to push through. In a resounding comeback, GG humiliated the tournament favourites in the final two games lasting just under 30 minutes.
Both final games appeared to be a stomp as GG secured their top 3 finish at the $5,000,000 Dota 2 esports event.
On the other hand, Team Liquid had their work cut out for them as they faced off against a formidable foe Tundra Esports, a team that’s been in hot form in recent weeks. Liquid convincingly won the first game with 33’s Doom and Nisha’s Leshrac being a nightmare for Tundra to handle.
However, Pure popped on Chaos Knight in the next game with Ramzes’ Enigma pitching in clutch Blackhole in crucial team fights which gave Tundra an advantage to capitalize on and march on to the decider game of the series.
Game three was disappointing to watch which saw Tundra opt for the same draft as in the previous game. But Team Liquid was ready with a counter – Nisha’s Tiny and Micke’s Gyrocopter. Both of them got a good start, especially Nisha, who had an insane impact in the game with 10/1/7 KDAs.
They found the perfect way to stop Tundra’s strategy and advance to the upper bracket finals at the Riyadh Masters 2024 Playoffs.
OG bites the dust
Two-time TI champ OG Esports bowed out of the tournament after suffering defeat at the hands of PSG Quest in an engaging best-of-three series. While they gained the upper hand in the first game with a quick 26-minute victory, PSG Quest wasn’t about to give up.
They bounced back and defeated OG in consecutive games to advance to the next round in the lower bracket of the Riyadh Masters 2024 Playoffs.
Three teams to be eliminated on Day 4
Three more teams will be eliminated on Day 4 of the Riyadh Masters 2024 Playoffs from the lower bracket.
Xtreme Gaming will face BetBoom Team whereas Team Spirit will face PSG Quest. Undoubtedly, XG and Team Spirit have the upper hand but there's always a chance for upsets.
Tundra Esports will face the winner between XG vs BetBoom Team. It'll be a day of eliminations!
