Day 2 of the Riyadh Masters 2024 Play-In stage has concluded with Azure Ray being the first team to be eliminated from the esports competition. Let’s see how the second day unfolded and what’s in store for the final day of the play-ins.
SEA’s Dota 2 team, Blacklist Rivalry, tops Group A with a solid showing as they go unbeaten on Day 2 of the Riyadh Masters 2024 Play-In. They defeated LGD Gaming and Virtus Pro in straight games to secure their position on top of the table.
Entity Gaming is placed second in the group after registering victories against LGD Gaming and Beastcoast on Day 2. Beastcoast and Virtus Pro are placed third and fourth, respectively, with mixed results. Beastcoast registered a win and a loss whereas Virtus Pro lost one game and drew another.
However, it’s a Chinese show but on the dismal side. G2.iG and LGD Gaming are tied in 5th place with one of the teams bound to be eliminated at the conclusion of the Riyadh Masters Play-In stage. Both have registered two losses and two draws each.
Heroic’s rise to the top of the table came on the heels of two victories against Azure Ray and Nouns. The South American Dota 2 team looks in pristine form with its last series being against Aurora on the final day of the Riyadh Masters 2024 Play-In.
PSG Quest and Aurora occupy the second and third position respectively. The former registered a win and a draw whereas the latter won one series and lost the other. PSG Quest are in second position because they defeated Aurora in their series, sending the latter to third position.
Mouz and Nouns are tied at fourth place and will avoid direct elimination. They will play against the other 4th-5th placed teams from Group A for a final eliminator. However, the most disappointing team at this event is Azure Ray.
Ever since their inability to qualify for The International 2024 (TI13) twice through the regional qualifiers, the team seems to have lost all hope despite boasting high-caliber Dota 2 players. They were eliminated without registering a single win at the Riyadh Masters 2024 Play-In.
The final day will be a race towards securing a spot in the group stage and avoiding elimination or being put into the eliminator. The Dota 2 teams on the bottom half of the table will be eager to get into the top half to be in a relatively safe spot.
It’ll be interesting to see how Virtus Pro, Mouz and Nouns fare in particular as they are the only teams who can pull off a miracle.
