The first day of the PGL Wallachia Season 1 Playoffs concludes with four teams advancing to the next round and the remaining four dropping to the lower bracket.
Every series for teams in the lower bracket will be an eliminator. Do or die!
The battle between the two Chinese giants met an expected end with Xtreme Gaming defeating G2xIG in two straight games. However, the second game was a nail-biter, with G2xIG throwing away Gold and XP leads on multiple occasions and handing over the series victory to Xtreme Gaming.
The Battle of David vs. Goliath! Aurora had a huge task ahead of them – to defeat the reigning TI champions Team Spirit.
Aurora won the first game, surprising Team Spirit, although that was the extent of it. TS made quick work in the next two games to win the series. Goliath wins, and David gets another chance in the lower bracket.
The tournament favourites Falcons waltz into the next round of the upper bracket with ease after registering an easy 2:0 victory over BOOM Esports.
BOOM had no answer to Team Falcons’ aggressive manoeuvres throughout the series, as the latter dominated both games.
The battle between the two European giants was a full-blown three-game affair. The first game lasted for around 30 minutes, resulting in a stomp in GG’s favour, however, in the next two games, TL mounted a comeback. In the end, the series went in TL’s favour as they ended up with a 2:1 score.
The second day will resume with elimination on the line for two teams in the lower bracket. Winners will live to fight another day, whereas losers will book their tickets to the airport.
It’s the perennial SEA vs. China battle. Aurora will face G2xIG in the first eliminator of the day. Both teams have been shaky in tournament so it’s difficult to determine the outcome.
Aurora’s aggressive and unorthodox playstyle against the G2xIG’s disciplined gameplay will be interesting to watch. However, Aurora might just surprise us.
BOOM faces Gaimin Gladiators in the second eliminator of the day. The team with better mental fortitude will emerge victorious as both teams are comparatively on par regarding individual skills. The series will be well-fought but the luck seems to be on GG’s side.
Which two teams will qualify for the upper bracket finals?
Four teams will compete for the upper bracket final spot following the lower bracket eliminators during the second half of Day 2 of PGL Wallachia Season 1 Playoffs.
East vs. West; a classic battle of two different ideologies and playstyles. Xtreme Gaming will face Team Spirit in a battle of wits and skills. Both teams are stacked with highly skilled players, but on the offset, Xtreme Gaming looks to have better momentum.
However, Team Spirit have woken up from their winter sleep and that’s a scary situation for any opponent. Either way, we are in for a treat.
Falcons are on a roll, even with a stand-in, as they continue to dominate the Dota 2 scene. On the other hand, Team Liquid are finding their form back after a lacklustre start to their Dota 2 campaign this year.
Similar to the first upper bracket series, it is difficult to determine the outcome but we might be in for a surprise… or not!
