Team Falcons and Tundra Esports have punched their tickets to the BLAST Slam III semifinals after a stellar showing in the group stage, with both teams topping their respective groups. Here’s a quick recap on how the group stage fared.
Team Falcons and Tundra Esports topped their respective groups, each winning three games and losing one, and advanced to the semifinals of BLAST Slam III. Thanks to Slam’s unique format, which rewards the toppers, both teams will get a well-deserved three days of rest.
Team Falcons defeated Gaimin Gladiators, Parivision and Team Spirit, with their only loss coming against Aurora Gaming. On the other hand, Tundra Esports defeated Team Tidebound, Team Liquid and BetBoom Team, with their sole loss coming against Xtreme Gaming.
Team Liquid, Team Spirit and BetBoom Team disappointed their fans with some lacklustre performance. All of them ended up with a 1:3 score and found themselves starting in the first round of the playoffs (gauntlet stage) in an elimination match.
Given their wins in recent tournaments, all three of them will need to go back to the drawing board and rectify their mistakes.
The fourth team to be in the same spot is Aurora Gaming, a team that’s still struggling to find its momentum and is the potential dark horse of the tournament. But can they surprise us at BLAST Slam III, especially since they face BetBoom Team in the second elimination series today?
Parivision and Xtreme Gaming, Team Tidebound and Gaimin Gladiators have secured themselves a spot in the second round and the quarter-finals, respectively.
BLAST Slam III playoffs kick off today, featuring an opening series between Team Liquid and Team Spirit, followed by Aurora Gaming versus BetBoom Team.
