Let’s take a look at how the series unfolded on day 2 of the seedings decider phase:
- Team Falcons vs Beastcoast: The battle between these two Dota 2 teams was filled with entertainment as Beastcoast won game 1 convincingly. The South American charm of causing “upsets” was seemingly coming to fruition but Team Falcons quickly bounced back with two consecutive victories. What seemed like an ignited flame was quickly doused by the Falcons as they defeated the beastcoast and secured a place in the upper bracket of playoffs, sending the latter to the lower bracket.
- Tundra Esports vs Heroic: Tundra Esports dominated Heroic from the start as the Western European team started with a brilliant victory after stomping the South American team by a drastic margin. Heroic went into the second game as a broken team as the damage was already done and couldn’t come out of the echo chamber Tundra sent them to, thus losing the series. Tundra qualifies for the upper bracket of the playoffs while Heroic drops to the lower bracket.
- Team Spirit vs Nouns: The David vs Goliath battle came true as Nouns pulled off an upset by defeating the reigning TI champion Team Spirit. The series looked like a sure-shot victory for the mighty Team Spirit who had an unbeaten run in the groups but Nouns pulled out all the tricks possible to outwit the Eastern European team. Holding the North American flag high, Nouns proceed to the upper bracket of the playoffs while Spirit starts their journey in the lower bracket.
- Gaimin Gladiators vs G2.iG: Gaimin Gladiators dominated G2.iG in the decisive series, securing their spot in the upper bracket of the playoffs. The first game was a swift 25-minute victory for Gaimin, with Ace securing a remarkable ultra-kill in just 17 minutes. While G2.iG managed to bounce back with a win in the second game, their luck ran out in the third. Despite a close early game, Gaimin’s calculated plays quickly turned the tide, creating a significant gold lead in just two minutes at the 18th-minute mark. The mounting pressure proved too much for G2.iG to handle, resulting in a decisive victory for Gaimin by 36 minutes.
Aurora and Nouns’ upset over Team Zero and Team Spirit has set the tone for an exciting playoffs bracket at The International 2024 (TI13) main event.
