BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports are the grand finalists of the inaugural BLAST Slam I as they defeat Parivision and Xtreme Gaming, respectively, in a closely contested battle to secure themselves a top-two placement.
Let’s take a look at how things unfolded:
The penultimate day of BLAST Slam I was a rollercoaster of emotions as the final four teams battled it out. The day kicked off with a high-stakes showdown between two CIS powerhouses BetBoom Team and Parivision.
The first game saw both teams opting for comfort picks. However, Pure and Meiro’s performance outshone the other eight players on the stage. Even Gpk, the stand-in for BetBoom was rampant on his signature hero Storm Spirit.
Despite the dominance, Parivision put up a good fight with a farmed Crystallis on Alchemist but it wasn’t enough for them to win the first game.
The second game featured many intense moments, especially with Parivision having a 12k gold lead at one point. It seemed Parivision would win the game; however, BetBoom was lurking in the shadows, waiting for them to make a mistake. And they did!
An unnecessary team fight near BetBoom’s bottom barrack led to Parivision throwing the 12k lead away with Pure’s Templar Assassin being a menace with Divine Rapier. Even though the Rapier changed hands on one occasion, BetBoom was smart enough not to let the golden chance slip away and punished Parivision for their reckless initiation.
As a result, BetBoom defeated Parivision to secure the first grand final spot.
The second between Xtreme Gaming and Tundra Esports was a highly anticipated battle between the East and West. However, it was a short-lived nightmare for Xtreme Gaming as Tundra made quick work of their Chinese opponents.
It was a whitewash as Tundra finished both games in 30 minutes, thanks to an exemplary performance from Nightfall and Lorenof. White XG opted for different hero picks like Zeus, Shadow Shaman and Venomancer, it proved to be a mistake, especially at such a crucial juncture.
XG, overlooking Tundra's undefeated run in the tournament, underestimated the challenge they faced, costing them the series. Tundra's methodical approach dismantled XG, highlighting their superior skill and punched their tickets to the grand final.
The grand finals will be a best-of-five affair between BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports. The series will begin at 16:30 CET and one team will walk away with the lion's share of the $1,000,000 prize pool and the inaugural BLAST Slam I trophy.
