Avulus has defied the odds and punched their tickets to PGL Wallachia Season 2 through an epic lower bracket run in the WEU qualifiers. They are the fifth team to represent Western Europe in Bucharest, Romania later this year.
Avulus has scripted an incredible story to qualify for the PGL Wallachia Season 2 main event with a remarkable lower bracket run in the WEU qualifiers. Their campaign began with a victory over Mouz before facing a revamped Team Secret roster.
Avulus continued their journey in the lower bracket and clinically beat teams one after the other to reach the grand finals. They defeated two of the strongest teams in the qualifiers, OG Esports and Team Secret, to set a grand finals berth with Dandelions, who had earlier defeated Secret in the upper bracket finals.
Dandelions had a great start and reached the grand finals through the upper bracket after defeating OG and Secret. However, they were caught off-guard by Avulus’ creative drafts that saw them pit against unconventional heroes in the current meta such as Slark, Huskar and Bristleback.
Dandelions looked shaky and struggled throughout the series – an opportunity Avulus gladly seized thus gaining an advantage over their opponents. Avulus marched through the grand finals with their heads held high and emerged victorious. They are the victors of the Western European qualifiers and qualify for the PGL Wallachia Season 2.
It’s a sad time for OG and Team Secret fans as both teams fail to qualify for the PGL Wallachia Season 2 through the WEU qualifiers. Both suffered defeat at the hands of Dandelions and Avulus during the qualifiers resulting in their elimination.
Team Secret had recently announced a new roster for the qualifiers after disbanding their last roster while OG parted ways with coach Misha and enlisted the services of Kaori in Ceb’s place. However, we might get to see them in action soon, although not with the same roster, as teams start looking for the right fit after TI13 concludes.
Until then, stay tuned to BLAST for the latest updates.
