We're coming to the end of 2024 now, so we thought it would be a good idea to turn back the clock and look back on the years of all the BLAST Premier teams.
We started with NIP, and now we'll move on to another team that went through plenty of changes in 2024, GamerLegion.
The BLAST.tv Paris Major finalists ended their year with an almost entirely different to the one they started it with, with that roster now looking like one of the most exciting in Counter-Strike.
GamerLegion came into 2024 still holding a core of their heroic Paris Major roster, with isak, acoR, Keoz, volt, and Snax making up the team.
However, despite their time together and the experience on the team, the year began with tough results as they finished 9th-12th at both BAST Premier Spring Groups and at IEM Katowice.
A more disappointing result came at the RMR for the PGL Major Copenhagen, they made it all the way to the decider match but were defeated 2-1 by 9Pandas.
That said, an unlikely turn of events and some visa issues meant that they still played the Major, but they were eliminated from the Opening stage with a 2-3 record.
After going from the final of one Major to not even getting out of the first stage of the next, GamerLegion looked to change their roster in a big way, benching both Keoz and acoR in favour of sl3nd and aNdu. Two exciting prospects, AWPer sl3nd arrived from Endpoint while andu was promoted for the academy team.
They weren't the only changes to the roster though, isak was bought out by NIP not long after and the organisation signed FL4MUS from Nemiga as his replacement.
And the changes didn't stop there either. Not long after finishing in the top four of the CCT Season 1 Global Final, Snax was acquired by G2 and left GamerLegion on the hunt for a new leader.
That leader was found in ztr, a former Young Ninjas played who had recently been benched by Metizport in a move that confused many at the time.
Highly respected in tier two for his accomplishments with Metizport, the signing of ztr was seen as a real coup at the time, and it would pay dividends before the year was out.
Although LANs were hard to come by for GamerLegion in the second season of 2024, they did pick up multiple impressive online results.
They finished second in three consecutive CCT events, with the third and final one also seeing aNdu benched afterwards. His replacement was
Tauson, a lesser known Danish talent who was brought in for his more selfless playstyle.
The move paid off quickly, GamerLegion finally won a CCT event in CCT European Series #13, beating Passion UA 2-1 in the final.
This set them up for a strong run in the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMR, although the young team soon found themselves with a 0-2 record after losses against Vitality and ECLOT.
However, the team dug deep, they won four games on the bounce as they first went 3-2 and then qualified for the Major by eliminating BetBoom in a decider match.
They didn't stop there either, in the Opening Stage of the Major, they won their next two games against FURIA and paiN before advancing to the Elimination Stage after a loss to The MongolZ and victory over Passion UA.
Sadly, their run stopped there, they could only beat Wildcard in an 0-2 game as seeding set them up with unfavourable ties against Vitality, Liquid, and NAVI.
Although, given their time together as a roster, they showed great resilience, and considering their average age of 20.9, great potential for the future.
