We're coming to the end of 2024 now, so we thought it would be a good idea to turn back the clock and look back on the years of all the BLAST Premier teams.
Next up is Complexity, the NA team that is home to one of the finest players in the world, EliGE.
It's perhaps been a frustrating year for Complexity, but they did manage to get their hands on a trophy, so let's take a look back at Complexitiy's 2024.
2024 didn't start great for Complexity, they exited BLAST Premier Spring Groups in last place after losses to NAVI and NIP.
IEM Katowice was also somewhat disappointing, the beat Apeks in their opening game but were knocked out after consecutive losses to Spirit and Falcons.
Immediately followed by the Americas RMR for the PGL Major Copenhagen, Complexity got their first positive result of the year, qualifying for the first Major of CS2 by beating Liquid in their qualification match.
However, this was immediately followed by another low, being eliminated from BLAST Premier Spring Showdown after just one game with a loss to OG.
The team bounced back at the Major, but were ultimately heartbroken as they failed to make the playoffs after a 2-0 start in the Elimination Stage.
More heartbreak came for Complexity in their next event, their only event of the year to take place in North America, IEM Dallas. As a North-American stand-in went on to win the event in Stewie2k with G2, Complexity were knocked out of the competition in last place after suffering losses against Liquid and MOUZ.
However, after narrowly missing out on the playoffs at YaLLa Compass, Complexity finally got to taste glory at ESL Challenger Jonkoping in their final event of the season.
A strong run that saw them beat Alliance, MIBR, Aurora, and Falcons, EliGE had an incredible event as he recorded a 1.33 rating across the ten maps he played.
Despite ending the first season on a high, the second season began in the same way as the first, with failure to qualify for BLAST Premier Fall Final and an early exit from the Esports World Cup over in Saudi Arabia.
Complexity also suffered another 9th-12th place exit from an IEM, this time IEM Cologne. They did, however, win more games in Germany than in Poland earlier on in the year, taking down ALTERNATE aTTaX, Eternal Fire, and Virtus.pro before being eliminated as a result of losses to MOUZ and Liquid.
From there, the second season remained at a constant for Complexity. There was a playoffs appearance at ESL Pro League Season 20, but they missed out on the stage at IEM Rio.
At their final event of the season, the NA team qualified for the Perfect World Shanghai Major with a 3-1 record in the Americas RMR.
With expectations high for a strong Major campaign, Complexity ultimately disappointed.
Entering the competition in the Opening Stage, Complexity opened their accounts in Shanghai with consecutive losses against FlyQuest and PassionUA.
They made it look like the reverse sweep was on as they took down Imperial and Cloud9, but ultimately Complexity were left disappointed as they lost their 2-2 game to BIG.
A tough year capped off by a tough result, Complexity were quick to act in the wake of their Major elimination as they benched floppy, who had been with the team since they were signed in 2022.
With potentially more changes on the horizon, Complexity will now be doing everything they can to keep hold of one of the players of the year, EliGE.
Despite a tough year, EliGE held onto a 1.18 rating in 2024, making him one of the highest-rated players in tier one. His return to form since joining the organisation has been incredible to witness, and he is certainly a player that can catapult them to the top in the future.
All that's left to be seen is whether they get there in 2025.
