Wicadia: "I have ideas but I can't call them because I need to translate them in my head"
Aurora took a huge gamble by going international, bringing in a new IGL in kyxsan, and a new star in Jimpphat.
The moves haven’t been an instant success, with Aurora falling today against G2 after a catastrophic performance on Mirage.
At BLAST Open Porto, we sat down with Wicadia to discuss the change and how he is still having to adapt to communicating in English.
“I hope that we will be better soon”
There's been a lot of change in the team recently. What are your thoughts on it so far?
It's going well; we're getting better each day. I hope that we will be better soon.
What's it been like to make the switch to an English roster?
It's hard, to be honest. I think I'm getting used to it slowly, though. Sometimes in-game, I have ideas, but I can't call them because I need to translate them in my head. I just need to keep talking and get better.
Do you still call in Turkish if you're in clutches?
Yeah, we switch back to Turkish then.
There was also a big change in terms of leadership. Do you think this new approach is benefiting you so far?
I think that kyxsan and everyone else have their own ideas, so we're just trying to mix them and take the best stuff.
Before the changes, XANTARES was struggling slightly. Have his performances been worked on in the new system?
No, I think he's just working a lot individually, and that's why he's found his form again.
What about yourself?
I think I've got a lot of experience now, but there's still a lot of room to improve.
Where do you feel the room for improvement is?
My mentality, for sure, but also always in-game.
What do you mean by mentality? How you perform in arenas?
No, actually, I don't care about that, but in-game, sometimes when we go down, I get a little too frustrated. I need to work on that.
