Vitality may have a stand-in, and they may have gone a map down after a disastrous Nuke T side, but that didn’t stop them from booking their place in the semi-finals of BLAST Open Porto after spirited showings on both Cache and Dust2.
A disappointing loss for FURIA, the resiliency Vitality displayed showed shades of their indomitable era, and have now put them in a great spot for their upcoming semi-final against a resurgent MOUZ team.
The series kicked off on Nuke, where Vitality have had plenty of T-side struggles in recent weeks. Those struggles in this game, too, as FURIA’s confidence was free-flowing and they raced to an 8-0 lead on the CT side.
It was a real team effort from FURIA, who all had their moments in limiting Vitality to just two first-half rounds, but KSCERATO and FalleN were the flashiest, ending the half with 1.68 and 1.67 ratings and pulling off some clean highlights.
A CT-side pistol win saw Vitality put up a feeble attempt at a comeback, but with FURIA playing like prime late-2025 FURIA, they didn’t stand any chance, and the map drew to a close at 13-6.
Cache was a very different story, however. FURIA opened the map with a three-round winning streak, but Vitality quickly turned the game on its head, winning seven rounds in a row as they put together a confident T side performance.
8-4 at the break, FURIA rallied hard through some great individual plays, tying the game up at nine rounds apiece. Of course, Vitality cared little for this tied score; they managed to grind out the remaining rounds to send us to a decider at 13-11, with ropz topping the scoreboard on 23 kills.
The strangest map of all, though, was Dust2. Vitality were now firmly in the driver’s seat, and they let FURIA know it. It was close in the opening few rounds, but apEX then turned on the GOAT-level IGL brain, closing out the first half with a five-round salvo to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
The second half was much of the same, Vitality extended their round winning streak to 10, closing out the game with a dominant 13-4 scoreline.
