Spirit grab win against FaZe to advance to semis
Before a bullet had even been fired in this one, we knew it would be a banger.
The second quarter-final of BLAST Premier World Final 2024 would see Spirit take on FaZe, a match that ended 2-0, it could have easily gone to a third map had FaZe been able to secure map two in overtime.
However, it wasn't to be, and FaZe exited the competition in 5th/6th, so let's go through the action and see how Spirit became the final semi-finalists at World Final.
Spirit clutch up to win Mirage
Spirit may have eventually rained on their parade, but the Singaporean crowd instantly made it clear who they'd be cheering for before the action had even got underway.
However, they were almost silenced very quickly, donk's deagle had FaZe sweating as they took the B site.
A close game, Spirit looked to be heading into the half with an advantage, but karrigan had other plans.
He wasn't the only FaZe player coming up clutch either, broky fired off a buzzer-beater to deny Spirit a last-gasp bomb plant.
The clutch plays weren't enough for FaZe, though. Spirit rallied and secured map one 13-10 thanks to a massive 46 kills combined from sh1ro and donk.
Spirit take Anubis in OT
After a banger map one, Anubis had a lot to live up to. donk clearly got the memo, he pulled out a trick shot to get a kill in the opening round.
zont1x was slightly less flashy in his approach, but his three kills in Connector were enough to secure Spirit a fourth.
7-5 in favour of FaZe at the half, Spirit attempted the comeback, but FaZe remained in the driving seat.
That was, until 12-10, when sh1ro managed to save the day and keep his team in the game.
A play that would ignite Spirit, they then took the game to OT after chopper pulled off some smart plays through a Camera smoke to overshadow karrigan's crisp Deagle kills.
But sh1ro wasn't the only AWPer pulling off heroics, broky denied Spirit a bomb plant with a desperate slash of his knife.
In the end though, it was the efforts of Spirit that mattered for more, they secured the map and series with a 19-17 scoreline, knocking FaZe out and setting them up with a clash against Astralis tomorrow.
