Is there anything more exciting in CS than 2-2 games?
We were treated to three bangers today in the Perfect World Shanghai Major, including a final match between Wildcard and Passion UA that saw the NA side eventually secure their advancement in overtime on the third map.
Let's go over the action.
We began the day with a game between BIG and Complexity, one which the German team eventually got the better of.
Complexity began the series with a confident win on Anbuis, taking down BIG 13-5. A strong performance from them, Grim was untouchable going 15-6 while hallzerk and EliGE combined for 40.
The following two maps were all BIG, however, JDC and Krimbo turned on and shut Complexity down, securing consecutive 13-9 wins on Ancient and Dust2.
FlyQuest were flying in the beginning of the Opening but they went out without a whimper as they fell 13-4 on Nuke and 13-5 on Inferno to MIBR.
saffee was the star on Nuke, he went 18-6 as the Brazilians dominated throughout. 8-4 off the back of their T side, MIBR put up a flawless CT side to close it out.
Inferno was another solid team performance, exit top the scoreboard but everyone went positive as they dumped FlyQuest out of the Major with another dominant showing.
The final game was contested between two of the biggest fan favourites in the tournament, Passion UA and Wildcard. A match in which fans would be happy with either outcome, it was the NA side who ran out victorious in a 2-1 win.
They started the series strongly, overcoming the Ukrainians with a comfortable 13-6 on Inferno thanks to a top-frag performance from Sonic. However, Passion UA responded with a dominant map of their own, winning 13-6 on Mirage.
The final map came to a nail-biting finale, eventually going to overtime as Passion UA forced a 12th round in round 24. In the end, it was susp and stanislaw who came up clutch, both players hit 27 kills to force a win for their team at 16-13.
