It's RMR season as we rapidly approach the Perfect World Shanghai Major and one of those competitions has already drawn to a close.
Fought by the teams battling it out to compete in their home continent, the Asian RMR was somewhat overshadowed by the presence of ohnePixel's DRILLAS team and the controversy around them fielding four Europeans on their lineup.
However, DRILLAS were eliminated early, and we were left with two Asian teams and a representative of Oceania qualifying for the Major.
The first team to qualify was The Mongolz, qualifying at the expense of DRILLAS after they took them down in a 2-1 win.
DRILLAS had won the first map in that series, although they won just seven rounds after that as the Mongolian team once again showed why they have established themselves as one of the best teams in the world.
Following that. as well as some words of encouragement from The MongolZ, Rare Atom were the next to qualify.
They did so with wins over Russian team GR and Australian team TALON, booking their first ever Major spot after entering CS in 2022.
Their qualification also means that there will be true home representation in China's first Major, a landmark moment for the Asian scene as a whole.
The final team to qualify was FlyQuest, doing so after a scare in their opening game against TALON and then becoming the team to ultimately knock DRILLAS out, the end result of a thrilling 2-1 win with a messy triple overtime game on Ancient.
Their final game was played against Lynn Vision, another Chinese representative in the Asia RMR. A clean 2-0 win, the Aussies dominated map one 13-2 and won the second 13-8.
