In the second quarter-final of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, FaZe beat Liquid in emphatic fashion. 13-6 on Inferno followed by a 13-3 on Mirage, Liquid were powerless to stop FaZe as ropz looked back to his best with a 37-15 statline.
After the game, we spoke to rain to get his views of the rivalry forming between the two teams, karrigan playing on home soil, and their next match up against NAVI.
A quick two maps for you, did you see it going the way that it did?
Not really, I expected more of a fight from them. But, it was the first game on a stage for them with this lineup. It was a comfortable win, but I expected more.
Did your experience as a team play the part then?
I think that they have a lot of players with a lot of experience, so I don't think it matters that much. I know it was ultimate's first match on stage, so I don't know if he felt anything, but I think we were just more fired up today and we really want to do good here.
We have some unfinished business going into tournaments so we just want to step up.
Does having a Danish IGL with a Danish crowd help?
Of course, we all really want karrigan to be able to win on Danish soil. We came close at the Major, so we're all just trying to step up to make sure he gets a trophy here.
You played against Twistzz and jks today, two players you have previously played with, does that create any animosity or is it just another opponent for you?
No, there's no animosity, Twistzz knows that we're all really good friends. We ended on a really high note winning the tournaments that we did and the finals that we did, so there's no bad feelings. It's just another game of CS.
You've now had a couple of games against this Liquid lineup, do you think you're becoming their bogey team?
I don't know, maybe we're still a little bit in their heads from Cologne. I also don't think it's good for them on Mirage when they look up and see 11-1 again on our CT side against them, so I think maybe we're in their heads for now, it'll take a couple more match ups before they can beat us.
You play NAVI next, what do you make of that match up?
There is definitely some animosity between us and NAVI, they have taken a lot from us this year. We have a lot of bad blood in that sense. We're going to work really hard to win.
