Danger Zone has yet to make an appearance in CS2, but for those of you who are clamouring for new game modes, the new CS update and the edition of Rush should make you happy.
A brand new, fast-paced, 3v3 experience, Rush looks set to be a great place to warm up, play casually, or just something to do while you wait for the rest of your five-stack to appear.
That wasn’t the only thing in the update, though. Valve have also added a new way to reload, a new music kit, a new Premier banning system, and, wait for it… personal chickens.
The new game mode, Rush, is a fast-paced, 3v3 experience where players fight with limited budgets to clear objectives in randomly selected arenas.
It comes with its own leaderboard, too, so there are even more ways to remind your friends how much better you are at the game than they are.
Or, like us, look really, really bad.
There’s also a pretty crazy tiebreaker, too, which has us reminiscing about those old BLAST Pro Series 1v1s…
Every time a new map is added to the Active Duty pool, the player base is incredibly excited. And then they just don’t play them.
However, that finally might be about to change, as the new CS2 update also changes the way that we’ll be picking maps in Counter-Strike’s premier (sorry) game mode.
Instead of the old banning system, players will now vote for whichever map they want to play instead. Two maps will then be picked by each team, and the map that is played will be randomly selected from those four resulting maps.
A change that should mean Cache finally actually gets picked, and Dust2 and Mirage will be played less? We’re in.
Valve have really been focusing on the way guns work in recent updates, and yet another new feature has been added in this update.
Following on from the magazine update, players will now have the ability to silently reload by holding their reload bind. It takes far longer than a regular reload, though, so maybe avoid doing it unless you know you’re really safe.
One of the biggest complaints since the release of CS2 is that the various feedback elements just don’t feel how they did in CS:GO.
That’s also seen a huge upgrade in the latest CS2 update, as bullet holes now appear larger and blood is clearer.
What are you going to use as an excuse now? Lag? Sub-tick? When will you just accept that you are the problem? Do better.
If music kits are the only thing you care about in CS, there’s something in this new update for you, too.
Coming from StarJunk 95, we’ll just let the music do the talking…
And finally, the new update has added chickens to the game.
Yes, really.
No, not the annoying ones that block doors on Inferno, either.
These chickens.
Really, it’s an act of generosity from Valve. Think about it: What are CS players? People who struggle to look after themselves? Probably. People who shirk responsibility for one more pug? Almost definitely. How do you solve that? Give them responsibility in-game.
Once you receive an egg from a weekly drop, you’ll then have to feed your chicken, or your chicken will leave you. From there, they’ll grow; you can take photos of them, and they even have animations and can play dead.
Why? Because why the fuck not.
