Spirit came into Fall Final as undoubtedly one of the best teams in the world, but also a team that isn't at it's best following a disappointing IEM Cologne and a loss to NAVI at ESL Pro League Season 20.
At Fall Final, we spoke to magixx about Spirit's recent form, their shakiness, and whether burnout will be an issue as we look towards the Major.
How are you feeling about Fall Final?
We are feeling good, but we're not happy with our performances in the last couple of months. This is a great place for us to get back in shape.
We spoke to zont1x recently and he brought up the shakiness of your performances, why do you think they have been shaky?
I have no idea actually.
Is it an individual thing?
I haven't thought about it too much, I just see that something is wrong and I haven't been diving deep into it.
There were some issues after the player break at Cologne and EWC, and it was a different scenario, but then we won BetBoom Dacha and we made the playoffs at Pro League.
So it's kind of got better, but we are still not where we have been in the past.
Burnout may be an issue because of where the Major is on the calendar, this is already the most LANs that most of your team have attended in a year, is it something you are worried about?
Not really because we are skipping IEM Rio. We're going to have a small break before the RMRs, World Final, and the Major, so it won't be an issue.
Does skipping events when you do give you an advantage because you can use that time for practice when other teams can't?
It definitely has an impact, but, not in the scenarios we have faced in the second half of the year. We have played poorly and there is a lot of extra time to have a rest and make preparations to do something different, but it hasn't gone the direction we expected.
It sounds like you're unhappy with how the year has gone overall, is that right to say?
If you split the year into two pieces, there's a huge difference between the first and second halves. But now, we have all the opportunities to make the second half as good as the first, or maybe even better by winning a few tournaments.
What's going to be the most important thing to be able to do that?
There are a few, but I won't name them all.
We guess one is donk hitting headshots?
That's not an issue, that's the core thing happening when we enter the game.
