Counter-Strike action will come thick and fast this year, and the conclusion of BLAST Bounty will bring about the beginning of IEM Katowice.

There's now just twelve days until the start of IEM Katowice 2025, and ESL have revealed today the first round of matches that we'll get to enjoy during the Play-in Stage.

Let's take a look at those games.

IEM Katowice 2025 opening matches

There's a very mixed group entering the Play-in stage, from top tier contender teams such as Astralis and Liquid, to teams looking to breakthrough such as 3DMAX and GamerLegion.

Also joining them is Imperial fe, who impressed yesterday during their tier one debut in BLAST Bounty, putting on a show as they battled hard against 2024's team of the year, NAVI.

They'll make their LAN debut in Poland, facing off against FURIA to once again prove that they have what it takes to compete in the mixed game.

Other teams include SAW, Complexity, and Wildcard, who will all be looking to improve on their early exit from BLAST Bounty.

The Play-in Stage for IEM Katowice will be a double-elimination, all-BO3 bracket, with teams needing two wins in order to advance to the Main Stage. The first round of matches will commence on January 29th, with eight games set to be played on that day.
