For the first time since IEM Rio 2022, FURIA are in the playoffs of a Major.
It's been even longer for that for their IGL, FalleN, his last playoffs were back at IEM Katowice 2019, and as we speak to him after their dominant 2-0 win over VP, he's clearly thrilled to be back on the stage where he has created so many iconic Counter-Strike moments.
You've made it to playoffs, how are you feeling right now?
Feeling great, yeah. The magic of the Major. We're playing really well as a team so I'm proud of the boys.
This team has instantly clicked since it was formed, what do you think the reason for that is?
I think it's because we have strong players, YEKINDAR is very good and has strong aim and also brings out the best in the other plays and helps keep them organised.
Also, molodoy, is a very strong AWPer, I'm helping him where I can and making sure everyone has space to talk and play and combine forces.
Has there been any issues with communication?
Lately there hasn't been many, and I think in the future it will just get better in terms of the outside of the server communication from molodoy. There's some conversations we know he doesn't understand, but in game, we don't struggle at all.
You seem to have adapted really well to rifling, something we've seen other people like cadiaN struggle to do recently, what's your secret?
For me, being on the IGL position with a rifle, I try to see that I can impact in many ways, including with my deaths if I get traded, or if I'm dropping a better gun for someone else. Today, for example, I gave YEKINDAR an AK, we go out Mid, I'm there with Tec-9 no kevlar, and he gets two kills and we win the round, we controlled the whole game off the back of that.
I try to empower the people around me and that's what's working, but I think I also have a good judgement of myself with every single position in the game. I know when I make a mistakes and I don't get a kill, so I ask the others what to do better and they give me the advice to implement.
It's the first time FURIA has made playoffs in a Major since IEM Rio, even longer for yourself, how does it feel to be back there?
I think it's been six years for me since a Major playoffs, it went from "I don't care, we're going to make playoffs anyway" to six without it. Going there again, and with a rifle for the first time, I'm very happy. I think we'll go much further and there's many things from this team you haven't seen yet.
You've done it before, can you go all the way again?
Of course we can, the Major magic is always there, so regardless of performance if we can bring the game like we have in the last few matches, we can beat anyone.
