What. Have. We. Just. Witnessed?
We're still reeling from it, but Falcons, one of the favourites to win the whole bloody thing, are out of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
Yes, you read that correctly - Falcons have been eliminated.
An incredible result for their opponents, MIBR, let's take a look at how it happened.
Falcons were strong throughout Ancient and went into the half with a 7-5 lead from their T side, but that didn't stop a hero AK from being their undoing in round 14.
Falcons had no issues recovering from that round loss, though, they won 13-6 thanks to a combined 32 kills from TeSeS and m0NESY.
MIBR completely flipped the script on Nuke, they started incredibly strong and a 1v3 from brnz4n extended their lead to five at 6-1.
He wasn't the only MIBR player in the highlight reel, either. Lucaozy went massive to secure an eighth round for his team on the A site.
10-2 at the half, MIBR made the gap even greater as they won the second half pistol round.
Falcons tried desperately to fight back into the game, 23 combined kills from NiKo and m0NESY helped them record seven CT side rounds, but the gap was just too big to close and MIBR took us to a third with a 13-9 win.
In perhaps the greatest game of the BLAST.tv Austin Major so far, MIBR ultimately got the best of Falcons after three overtimes.
The two halves of regulation were fairly T sided, with 8-4 the score both times. insani was huge for MIBR in getting their eight, he pulled off a nuts 1v3 to make it 6-4.
And he wasn't the only MIBR member picking up big 3Ks, saffee's quick shooting shut down three as they attempted to retake through Banana.
As the Falcons comeback trudged on from being 10-4 down at one point, they needed all the experience they could muster to get back into the game. Thankfully, they have four-time Major winner Magisk on their team, he put in a huge round in round 18 to get his team their eighth round.
All tied up at 11-11, brnz4n put up another huge 1v3 round to give MIBR map point.
Of course, in true NiKo at a Major fashion, Falcons did push us to OT, and the man himself was not looking thrilled with the game so far.
Deep into double OT and with map point, Falcons had a 5v3 with the bomb down on the B site. A seemingly unwinnable round for the Brazilians, they somehow pulled it off to force a third overtime.
Just a few short rounds later, MIBR finally did it, securing the win with a 22-20 scoreline and 31 kills out of insani.
