Although CS2 is a game that you will find plenty of players enjoying at all times of the day, sometimes, you will still struggle to find a game.
This will likely be because the CS2 servers are down (or you're just trying to queue Vertigo) so in this guide, we'll tell you how to check the status of the CS2 servers.
Checking if CS2 is down is easy enough, the ways of knowing are simple. Plus, if you become familiar with the Steam maintenance downtime, you'll always know if that is the reason why CS2 is down.
Of course, the CS2 servers can go down for a wide range of issues, but one is more likely than any other.
This reason is the Steam scheduled maintenance, which happens once a week, every week, at 23:00 GMT on a Tuesday. But don't worry, this maintenance typically only takes 5-10 minutes, so you'll be fragging again in no time.
Fortunately for players in EU, this means that the servers go down at times when many players will have already stopped playing for the day. However, for NA players, this means that the CS2 server status will be offline at 16:00 PST and 19:00 EST.
Here is a list of the full CS2 weekly maintenance schedule:
If you play CS2 on FACEIT, it's likely that the FACEIT CS2 servers will be down for a little while longer after the maintenance window. This is because FACEIT then has to update their own CS2 servers if there was an update to the game, delaying the time before they go online again.
If the CS2 servers are down outside of these times, it is likely there is another, so you may have to wait a little longer to get to play the beautiful game.
There are three easy ways to check the CS2 server status and see if CS2 is down.
The first is by using Down Detector. Down Detector is a popular site, used for detecting outages and issues with many websites and services.
On Down Detector you will find graphics detailing issues with CS2 servers. You can also select specific regions to see if the CS2 servers are down in on particular place.
The second method is steamstat.us. Just like Down Detector, steamstat.us is a third-party site that covers many games on Steam, and also gives you the ability to look at issues with matchmaking and player inventories.
The final method is to check the official Counter-Strike Twitter account. Although this will not help you during the weekly CS2 maintenance, if the CS2 servers are down for another reason they will post regarding issues there.
Unfortunately, if the CS2 servers aren't down and you're still having issues, it's likely that the problem is on your end.
If you have checked the CS2 server status and they are all okay, then try these next steps:
