We're two games down at BLAST Premier World Final 2024 with Astralis picking up an upset victory over NAVI and MOUZ clinching a close game against FaZe.
That series between MOUZ and FaZe was a banger, with MOUZ needing an overtime on Inferno and all the rounds on Nuke in order to take the series 2-0.
After the game, we caught up with Brollan to discuss the series, the importance of performing well in Singapore ahead of the Major, and how much he is enjoying his time on MOUZ.
You got the win over FaZe in your opening game here at World Final, how does it feel?
It feels good, it's fun to win against them again, I think we have had some slow starts to past tournaments so it's really good to get a win.
That's your second successive win over FaZe after a string of defeats, do you feel you now have the upper hand in the match up?
Yeah, we're playing really good CS at the moment and we've been grinding.
I think FaZe isn't in the best shape at the moment, maybe they're in a good shape, but they're not as good as they've been when we've played them in the past.
It was a really close game in the end with an overtime and a 13-11, but we're just playing really good CS overall so we're really happy with it.
Pimp raised some question marks about your team's form in the past few months but after Rio and this win, do you feel like you're getting back on track?
Yeah, of course. I think in Rio we really got our confidence back, we managed to beat FaZe, Vitality, FURIA with their crowd, and we should've taken NAVI to a fifth map in the final.
Coming into this tournament our confidence was high, and before the season began we didn't know if we would even play here, but we qualified with points so it's a bonus tournament for us and while we want to win it, it's a good warm-up for the Major.
With that said, how important this it to build up some momentum here with the RMRs and Major right around the corner?
It's really important for us to see that we can get some results before the RMR, it's the most stressful thing in the year so it's nice to get a good start here, but we need to get some better results in the tournament overall before we go into the Major.
Our photographer got some amazing photos of you during that game and she said she's never seen you so animated, are you enjoying this period of your career more than any previously?
Oh yes, it's been a long time since I joined now and it's a good group of people that I really enjoy playing with.
We're playing really well and I joined to play with more happiness, you're always going to be happier when you're playing well so it feels really nice to get some numbers on the board. I don't think I've played the best individually this season, but I think it's a mental thing and I start to ghost if I don't play well.
But now I feel really confident when I'm playing in how we play and our coach told me I played well today, so I'm really happy about that.
So we'll be seeing some more celebrations like that this week?
Hopefully [laughs], we'll see.
