Astralis recently made changes to their active roster with the benching of blameF following disappointment at both IEM Katowice 2024 and the PGL Copenhagen Major RMR.
Today, they have announced another departure from their illustrious organisation.
Xyp9x, the legendary Dane affectionately known as the Clutch Minister, has left the Astralis after eight years with the organisation.
The departure was announced via Astralis' Twitter:
Xyp9x had been an inactive member of Astralis since his benching back in April of last year. This came after elimination from the BLAST.tv Paris Major RMR with a 1-3 record.
He then had a brief spell as a member of Astralis Talent, swapping places with Altekz while the youngster spent a short period with the main team.
In his prime, Xyp9x was renowned as the greatest support player in Counter-Strike. One of the key figures in defining the role, he became famous for his incredible clutch ability - he was even able to pull off a 1v5 without firing a bullet.
A member of Astralis for all four of their Major wins in CS:GO, he was also part of the team that won the inaugural season of the Intel Grand Slam.
Xyp9x was named in HLTV's top 20 four times as a player, peaking as high as 13th in 2017 and 2018.
Although Xyp9x has been without a team for over six months, speculation is now mounting to his next steps following Astralis' statement reading that Xyp9x "will soon be taking on a new challenge."
