Virtus.pro overcome Cloud9 in 2-1 victory
Our Group D's winner's match would see two of the best Russian teams in the world, Cloud9 and Virtus.pro, face off against each other.
A 2-1 victory for VP, let's see how they got one over on Boombl4's boys.
Map one - Overpass (Virtus.pro's pick)
The quickest map of the series, Cloud9 found rounds hard to come by on Overpass - especially worrying seeing as they started out on the favoured CT side.
They did have one moment of magic, however, HObbit wall-banged VP's big hitter FL1T from B to Connector.
It turns out they know other magician's tricks, too. They stopped Jame from pulling off another 1v3 in round 12.
Still, it wasn't enough to stop VP from clean sweeping their CT to take the map 13-4. A real team performance from them, every player on the team managed to hit double figures for kills.
Map two - Anubis (Cloud9's pick)
Cloud9 battered Heroic on Anubis yesterday, and the map was enough for them to stay in the series against Virtus.pro, too.
The first half was evenly split, although Virtus.pro did well to be in it at all. 6-0 down at the start, FL1T and fame had to dig deep to tie the scores at 6-6.
Cloud9 started their T side much better than VP did, and at 10-7 they put the map win within touching distance thanks to a nice B hit and an effective Ax1Le lurk.
VP tried to fight back, and they looked like they might be able to force an overtime, but then Cloud9 decided that smokes didn't matter and they could wipe up a Virtus.pro retake without any visibility at all.
Map three - Inferno (Decider)
Great series always seem to be decided on Inferno, and this one was no different.
7-5 at the half, n0rb3r7 and Jame stared as VP went into the break with a 7-5 lead from their T side.
Rounds were traded back and forth in the second half, but a pistol round win from VP was enough that it meant they could see out the map and win 13-9.

Cloud9 will now face BIG in Group D's consolidation final while VP will wait to see who wins that match to find out their group final opponent.
