Astralis have been on a hot streak of semi-final appearances since making device IGL but that came to an end here at BLAST Premier Spring Final presented by Revolut as Virtus.pro took them down 2-0 to book a game against NAVI.
It took a team effort from the former Major winners, but the squad eventually overcame the Danes thanks to electroNic rolling back the years on Dust II.
Despite a great start by Astralis on Inferno, it was VP who dominated thanks to a ten round winning streak after the score was 4-0 in favour of their opponents.
The run involved a cool 1v1 by captain Jame, he kept his composure against his opposite number device in a 1v1 in round six.
Astralis fought back towards the end, but a top frag performance from FL1T was enough to seal the map 13-8 for VP.
Dust II started similarly strong for Astralis, but it wasn't long before Virtus.pro wrestled back control of the map once again.
VP continued to find openings, including this n0rb3r7 shot through the mid doors.
Astralis managed to fight back and take a 10-8 lead to put us in touching distance of map three, but all it took was an uncharacteristically aggressive play from Jame to turn the map back in Virtus.pro's favour.
With Jame's clutching serving as the straw the broke the camel's back, Astralis crumbled after that round and eventually fell 13-10 and bowed out of the event at the quarter-finals stage.
