The Draft Super 6 is now underway, and the first day was jampacked with exciting Counter-Strike action.
GuardiaN, kennyS, shox, friberg, and olofmeister all took to the stage and all enjoyed very different fortunes, so how did they get on?
One of them is now one game away from the Grand Final - let's get into the action.
The opening game of the day saw GuardiaN's Gods Reign face off against olofmeister's Team WahWah - and their performances sat firmly at both ends of the spectrum.
Team WahWah started off very strongly. They demolished Gods Reign on Anubis with a 13-3 scoreline. The map pick of Gods Reign, they were soon made to regret it as WahWah got off to a 4-0 start. They answered by getting their three rounds back-to-back-to-back, but Executor and insmutje shined to dominate the map.
Given how map one went, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this series would end in a swift 2-0, but instead, Gods Reign responded with a 13-4 map win on Mirage. GuardiaN starred with 18 kills, exactly double the amount olofmeister managed to get.
Map three, Ancient, ended in exactly the same way - 13-4 in favour of Gods Reign. olofmeister again ended on nine kills, but it wasn't GuardiaN who proved to be his biggest foil. Instead, it was f1redup, the Indian AWPer topped the server with 22 frags to his name.
Our next game was contested between friberg's Pak Boyz and shox's Marcos Gaming. A close game, shox starred as he put up 50 kills across its two-map duration.
In the first map, Mirage, the Frenchman shared the spotlight with his teammate, EmbeR. The duo picked up 24 kills each as they put the hurt to Pak Boyz in a 13-10 victory.
With Marcos Gaming already in the lead, things were looking good for them heading into their map pick of Overpass. 7-5 down at the half, shox recorded an impressive 16 kills on the CT side to close out the map 13-9.
Our first semi-final saw two of the greatest AWPers in the history of Counter-Strike come head-to-head. GuardiaN rolled back the years in his first match of the event, could he do it again against kennyS?
Gods Reign learned from their mistake of picking Anubis against Team WahWah, but that couldn't prevent them from dropping their new map pick of Overpass.
An AWPers playground, both legends performed as you would expect them to, but it was the 24-15 performance from
Mcg!LLzZz that proved to be the difference maker as True Rippers won 13-9.
Map two, Inferno, saw our first overtime of the event as True Rippers closed out the series with a 16-13 win. A map dominated by the T sides, GuardiaN top-fragged with 27 kills, but the 50 kills combined of kennyS and DiceDealer helped True Rippers book their place in the upper bracket final.
