It's semi-finals day in BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 and that means that by the end of the day, we'll know the final two teams who will be competing at BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 in London.
Earlier on today SAW became the first team to qualify thanks to victory against OG, but who would come out on top in our second game?
Would it be the young guns of Spirit? Or Sweden's new hope in Metizport?
Heading into map one many would have expected this to be an easy 2-0 victory for IEM Katowice 2024 winners Spirit, so they would have been incredibly surprised when Metizpot took map one 13-8.
A hard-fought map, despite plays like this one from Spirit captain chopper, the veteran couldn't prevent Sweden's newest stars from earning themselves a surprise advantage in the series.
In fact, although chopper top-fragged overall with 20 kills, it was his counterpart ztr who led the way for Metizport on 19. Flanked by susp and adamb with 17 and 16 respectively, once again they showed why their is so much anticipation for the future of this Metizport team.
Of course, we couldn't be talking about young guns without mentioning donk, and the little headshot machine made it impossible for us to ignore him any longer as he top-fragged on Mirage.
17-11 in the 13-4 win, his kills on the T side were a big reason why Spirit raced to a 9-3 lead by the time the second half began.
donk wasn't the only one doing the business when Spirit needed him to. sh1ro activated an extra part of his brain to ensure that adamb was denied a crucial spray down in round 11.
Then, just a few rounds later, sh1ro styled on ztr to all but confirm map three.
sh1ro and donk are fast becoming one of the deadliest duos in Counter-Strike history, so it's fitting that a combined 45 kills from them would help Spirit close out the series with a 13-8 Nuke win.
Having secured another 9-3 advantage from another stellar T side, donk then did this in the second pistol round to put the game in Spirit's grasp.
He almost won the game for Spirit at 12-6, too. Although, that was denied by a 2v3 from nilo and ztr.
And although they may have not win the next round either, we couldn't not show you this absolutely crazy shot one more time.
Fortunately for donk, just one round later Spirit would get the win and he could stop needing to be the best thing since sliced bread. Heartbreak for Metizport, the world is now on notice following a breakout event for their young stars.
