Spirit were one of the favourites coming into BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 and now they are just one game away from securing themselves a place at BLAST Premier Spring Final after a 2-0 win against BIG.
A banger game that was far closer than many might have expected it to be before it began, let's take a look at the action.
Spirit had all the momentum in the first half and their first highlight came from a donk ace in the third round.
The wunderkind was already 14-3 by round eight, so it's no surprise his face looked like this as he continued to dominate the CT side.
10-2 in favour of Spirit at the half, we then endured a lengthy technical pause. Luckily for BIG, they found other ways of entertaining themselves.
Spirit's momentum had all but faded by the time play resumed and JDC had a great round on the B bombsite as BIG mounted a comeback.
BIG continued to build back into the game and syrsoN showed why his return to the German organisation has been met with so much excitement after this quick double kill.
Sadly, the Germans couldn't hold out to win the map or take it to overtime. JDC had performed admirably to secure 19 kills, but donk's 29 kills proved to be too much as Spirit closed out the map 13-11.
The failure to complete the Anubis comeback broke BIG and Spirit quickly raced to a 8-0 lead in map two.
They didn't stop there either, quickly making it 10-0 despite this strange moment on the B site.
BIG tried to fight back as they ended the half having clawed two rounds back, but what could they really do when chopper was in form like this?
13-3 when all was said and done, the IGL extended his statline to 24-5, top-fragging as he booked his team a match against Metizport for qualification to Spring Final.
