Day three of BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 is in full swing and we've closed out our round of 16 matches with two banger games.
North American minnows Elevate faced the giants of Spirit while BIG faced GamerLegion, but with upsets already coming thick and fast in this Showdown, could we expect to see another on day three?
Let's recap the action.
In short: no, there wasn't an upset on the cards for day three. However, we would like to give Elevate credit for their valiant effort against Team Spirit.
Kicking off the series was Elevate's map pick of Vertigo. It ended with a 13-9 scoreline, far closer than may have been expected prior to the game. donk starred with 25 kills, although he was closely followed by sh1ro on 20.
Map two, Mirage, was more dominant in favour of Spirit. donk again top-fragged, but this was only by two kills as he ended on 15 and sh1ro ended on 13.
A strong showing for Elevate, unfortunately, they just didn't have enough in them to match the rising stars of Spirit.
BIG started strongly as they won their map pick of Vertigo 13-7. snax performed admirably with a 17-16 statline, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Germans from running away with it as tabseN top-fragged with 20 kills.
GamerLegion responded well by taking Overpass 13-7. A real turnaround from the international squadron, volt top-fragged with 19 kills but he was backed up by 17 from AWPer acoR.
BIG secured their win with a 13-6 win on Ancient. New signing JDC dominated, he ended the map 21-12. Backed up by Krimbo's 17-8 statline, the duo overcame the 17 kills of Keoz to secure BIG the win.
