Day one of BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 saw Falcons fall to Metizport in a shock defeat, but what di day two have to offer?
With three best-of-threes played, upset was on the cards again, this time as Team Liquid's woes continued as they were eliminated by SAW.
Let's get into the action.
Imperial have enjoyed great recent results with a 3-0 record at the PGL Copenhagen Major RMR securing them a place at the first CS2 Major, but that momentum quickly came to a halt as they faced off against Monte.
Monte, who failed to qualify for the Major was reinforced by sdy for the game. He took the spot over Gizmy having only just left Monte following the expiration of his contract.
The Ukrainian team started strong on Nuke. Picked by Imperial, despite 32 kills combined by noway and felps, they couldn't stop Woro2k and his 20-kill top-fragging performance from giving Monte a 13-8 victory.
Monte carried their momentum through to their own map pick, Mirage. Even more decisive, felps starred again for Imperial but a team performance from Monte saw them secure the map 13-5.
OG have failed to secure any real positive results recently but that all changed as they claimed a huge scalp in Complexity.
The series opened with Complexity stealing away OG's map pick of Inferno thanks to a 16-14 overtime win. floppy, hallzerk, and JT all managed to secure at least 20 kills to give Complexity that cutting edge in map one.
The map may have gone the way of the NA team, but check out this incredible Deagle ace from HeavyGod that would have had them sweating.
Map two, Anubis, was a drastically different story. OG bounced back with a 13-5 win thanks to a dominant 9-3 T side performance. Every single member of OG finished with a 1.0 K/D or higher, but it's captain k1to who will take the performance with his top-fragging performance.
The series was closed out by a 13-10 win for OG on Ancient. Although Grim secured himself 20 kills and Nexius top-fragged for OG as he also got 20 kills, it was HeavyGod who will go down as having the greatest impact with his 19 kills and 1.43 HLTV rating.
SAW is a team who are undeniably trending upward. Not only have they recently secured qualification to the PGL Copenhagen Major, but they have now also secured a huge win by defeating Team Liquid.
Despite 23 kills from skullz and 18 from NAF, SAW won their map pick thanks to a 13-10 scoreline on Nuke. Veteran player MUTiRiS starred, he ended with 16 kills and a 1.32 HLTV rating.
Liquid bounced back with a 16-14 overtime win on Inferno. Once again it was the job of the IGL to star as cadiaN dominated the server with 29 kills - 12 of those in OT - to keep Liquid in the game.
Sadly for cadiaN, his map two performance was in vain as SAW rallied to secure the series with a 13-4 Ancient win. story top-fragged, his 20 kills put him just ahead of his teammates arrozdoce and ewjerkz.
