Having lost their first game to Imperial, both fans and Vitality themselves would have been worried they were experiencing a post-Major hangover coming into BLAST Premier Spring Final.
Their fightback has been admirable, with G2 becoming the latest top team they have eliminated on the path to tomorrow's final against Heroic.
With three exciting maps to go over, let's get into it.
Vitality have previously displayed great strength on CS:GO's newest map, but it was G2 who drew first blood as they exposed weaknesses in their opponent's CT side.
A map with a currently ever-changing meta, it hasn't yet become clear whether it is more favourable towards the T or CT side. Despite this, Vitality lead at the half, and an 8-7 scoreline set them up nicely for a strong second half display.
The fragging stars of G2 disagreed with this sentiment, however, and as m0NESY, jks, and NiKo punished sloppiness, a dominant T side gave the champions of IEM Katowice a 16-11 victory.
A map that has become incredibly T sided in the past year, G2 could have easily carried their momentum into their map pick of Inferno and closed out the series with a 2-0.
That wasn't to be the case, however, as Vitality patched up the holes in their defence from Anubis and dominated the first half to record a 12-3 scoreline.
T side pistol also went the way of Vitality, and despite G2 attempting to mount a comeback, the deficit proved to be too large and they fell to a final score of 16-9.
m0NESY kept up his fine form from map one, but it was this time the fragging power of Vitality that ruled out, with Magisk, ZywOo, and dupreeh all having stellar performances.
Magisk has been one of the key figures in Vitality's recent successes, and he was the key for his team once again in the final map of Nuke. With two big clutches and a total kill count of 27, the Dane sunk G2 in a way that seemed all too easy.
NiKo was the star for G2, top fragging the server with 30 kills, and although he was bolstered by a rare off game for ZywOo, he couldn't do it all on his own as Spinx stepped up to aid Magisk on the side of Vitality.
Things had looked relatively even at the break with G2 taking 8 rounds from their CT side. It wasn't enough, however, as a far stronger CT side from their opponents saw Vitality race to getting the 9 rounds they needed and the map ended 16-12.
