SAW were in great form when they qualified to BLAST Premier Spring Final presented by Revolut through the Spring Showdown, but a disappointing Major campaign has seen that form taper off.
With the team bringing in BERRY for Spring Final to help address some of those issues, they're now looking to break into tier one full-time, and we sat down with MUTiRiS ahead of the game to speak about how they'll do that.
You qualified for the event through the Showdown, what was that experience like?
It was amazing. At the time we were playing really good CS and we defeated teams like Cloud9.
It's especially amazing for a team like us to qualify for BLAST, it's a big achievement and we are really proud to be here.
At the time you also qualified for the Major, is that the best level of CS you've played as a team?
Of course, we are aiming to be at that level all the time but maintaining it is the difficult part.
That time was the best and right now we are trying to see what we are doing right and wrong in terms of being at that level consistently. We just need to enjoy this last tournament of the season and I think it will be good.
What will be the key thing to maintaining that level?
Sometimes it's hard because it's easy when you have one or two problems, but sometimes teams have problems that are both inside and outside of the game. Even the map pool changing a little bit like with Vertigo recently.
The big problem is that with a lot of changes, it's impossible for teams to stay at that level on all the maps.
Some teams also have better players, better individuals, it's tough.
Is that why you've brought in BERRY for this event?
BERRY comes from a different background and brings with him a lot of experience. He's helping us a lot with some of the things that we are failing on at the moment, but you can't fix everything in a single month.
You play FaZe in your first game, you're underdogs within the match but does that help you?
I don't want to say it helps us, but we just need to be humble and understand that FaZe are a better team. We want to give them some problems, but we know that it's a really tough opener.
If we just play our game, then let's see how the momentum builds. We feel like we can punish them, but it's FaZe, they just destroy everyone if they are feeling it. We need to be capable of taking them out of that comfort zone and not letting them reach that level.
SAW are set to take on FaZe in their opening match at Spring Final today at 12pm BST - Make sure to catch all the action right here on BLAST.tv
