Ladies and gentleman, after 6 games of BLAST Premier Spring Final, we finally had a series go three maps.
The winners match of Group 1, we saw G2 overcome Imperial to become the first team to advance to Saturday's semi finals.
Imperial picked Ancient into G2, a move they would have soon come to regret as the first half ended 12-3.
NiKo was his superstar self on the CT side, and by the end of the game, he had recorded a personal statline of 35-10.
Imperial's veterans FalleN ands boltz attempted to fight back, but overall it was a meek showing from the Brazilian side as they fell 16-7.
At this point, many would have expected G2 to wrap up the game with another quick 2-0 on their own map pick of Inferno, however that wasn't to be the case.
A close map, jks was quiet while huNter- was the only real star for G2 as Imperial bounced back through the exploits of VINI and chelo.
Now a T sided map, both sides looked strong on their T sides, but ultimately the ten rounds Imperial won in the first half were enough to carry them over the line 16-13 in the second map.
Considering the strengths of G2 on Nuke, Imperial would continue to surprise by making the third map so close.
The international squad would prove too much to handle in the end as they lost 16-13, but it was a commendable showing that proved the samba stars mean business in D.C.
A map that involved FalleN snatching away a defuse after dropping from heaven and HooXi managing to fool the CTs into thinking he was on a completely different site, Nuke was full of action and a deserving first third map at Spring Final.
Imperial will be able to continue their strong showings so far in Friday's quarter finals, while G2 will now progress to Saturday's semis.
