G2 round out Spring Final teams after taking down Liquid 2-0

With Astralis already qualified to Spring Final thanks to their victory over BIG, it's time to turn our attention to the second play-in game.

The two teams involved, G2 and Liquid, both fought hard at Spring Groups, and their final match was a testament to that.

Let's get into it.

Map one - Overpass (Liquid's pick)

Given that Overpass is still a relatively new addition to G2's map pool, Liquid would have been confident when they picked it into them - but they were soon made to regret it.

4-0 down before they even knew what was happening, even when they did manage to string a few rounds together, nexa ensured it wasn't so many that G2 lost control of the first half.

Try as they might, Liquid just couldn't find a way back into the half, and m0NESY made sure of it on the B site.

Still, there was fight left in them, and following a pistol round win, they found a route back into the game through YEKINDAR.

That still wasn't enough though, and despite cadiaN and YEKINDAR combining on round 21, G2 would still find the two remaining rounds they needed to close out the game 13-10.

Heartbreakingly close for Liquid, they could have pushed G2 even further had Twistzz been able to afford a kit.

Map two - Anubis (G2's pick)

With the advantage in the series going the way of G2, they turned to an increasingly reliable Anubis to close out the game and book their place at Spring Final.

Their decision was justified in the early rounds. huNter- popped off with the dualies to make sure Liquid knew what was coming to them.

Despite Liquid managing to find a way back into the half, it was the Bosnian who again secured a key round for his team off the back of a nasty spray transfer.

Liquid still managed to close out the half 7-5, but NiKo joined in the fun to make sure that was the only joy they would get on the map.

Of course, it wouldn't be a party without nexa, and G2's new vibes merchant secured their 11th round and put them in positon to close out the game 13-7.
