frozen started life on FaZe with a clean 2-0 victory over Heroic.
The new kid on the block pulled off a spectacular 1v3 in round four of his debut to set FaZe well on their way to a rampant map one victory.
Map two was far closer, as we saw signs of life from Heroic's newest recruits, but eventually FaZe Clan held strong as they so often do to close out the series in two maps.
Heroic took both pistols on Overpass but one just one other round in an uber-dominant victory for FaZe.
frozen ambled into the B bombsite and ripped off Zyphon and salazar's heads before sticking the bomb in the 1v1 to equalise the score at 2-2, and FaZe won out the half from there.
NEO was very happy with his new toy, telling BLAST.tv "he fits the team perfectly, it was very smooth".
dupreeh came close to adding a third round for Heroic, but was afforded no liberties by FaZe's newest player in his clutch attempt, and Heroic were pretty much down-and-out.
They took the second pistol, but their reprieve ended as quickly as it started as broky tore them asunder with three one Deags, and put FaZe on the brink of victory.
TeSeS was notably absent on map one, but stepped up on Ancient to bring Heroic into the game on map two.
When FaZe raced into a 4-0 lead on their T side, it felt inevitable that they would coast to victory - but TeSeS picked up a triple through the long side smoke to put up an important round for Heroic.
CT rounds were hard to come by, though - Heroic picked up the next round, but found just four total rounds at the half.
FaZe, though, also found the CT side tough. Heroic collected seven on the trot to kick off their offence, and it required some wild rounds from frozen, karrigan and ropz to ensure FaZe got to overtime.
"It got rough at the end of the game, but it's Ancient. With us, it's always overtime," NEO told BLAST.tv. "[Heroic] showed a really good performance throughout the game".
A sensational triple spraydown from ropz ensured FaZe would get a chance at reaching 16, and though Heroic neutralised the score at 14-14, FaZe held their nerve to close out in overtime.
NEO wasn't too surprised that Heroic gave them a scare.
"We knew these players can shoot really well, and you can get caught off guard with MR12 - these games go much faster," he explained. "We knew they can play, so it wasn't really unexpected."
frozen had mentioned to us in his interview that with FaZe "the level grows the more you go deep into the tournament, so that's what I'm expecting" - but similarly, they get stronger the deeper they get into a map.
FaZe will move on to play the winner of MOUZ vs G2, while the loser will challenge Heroic for a shot at survival.
