Imperial won BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2023 and went on to put in stellar performances to reach the semi finals at BLAST Premier Spring Final, but they will not be present at BLAST Premier Fall Final this year.
Upset by North American side Party Astronauts, a team that are only playing in the Showdown thanks to the absence of TheMongolz, stand-in LUCAS1 couldn't help his twin brother's team win another BLAST Premier Showdown.
The third 2-0 of the day, let's take you through all the action from today's Americas Showdown match.
Despite some confusion on stream, it was Imperial who chose Overpass and that was a decision they soon came to regret.
Party Astronauts raced to a 12-3 lead on their CT side, and large parts of that were down to young star duo Grizz and viz who racked up 19 and 18 kills respectively.
With it taking seven rounds for Imperial to even record a round win, they left themselves with a mountain to climb in the second half, and they managed just two rounds before Party Astronauts secured the four they needed to claim their opponents' map pick.
felps was the best performer on Imperial, his 18-17 statline was the only positive for the Brazilian's in map one. As for viz and Grizz, they ended the map with 23 and 24 kills as they proved to be the best players in the server.
Just like with Overpass, it was the CT side that drove the story of map two. Despite this, it was Party Astronauts on their T side who continued their momentum to begin the game 3-0.
Imperial responded well with five rounds of their own, and managed to hold the NA team to just two more rounds as the first half ended 10-5. HEN1, felps, and VINI all performed well for their team in that first half, getting 13, 16, and 15 kills respectively.
Party Astronauts tied up the game with a 10-5 CT half of their own to force overtime. An incredible half in which every member of the team recorded a positive KD, viz continued his strong performance in the series as he closed out the game with 21 CT side kills.
Considering how tight the rest of the game game was, overtime itself was rather one sided. 4-1 in favour of Party Astronauts, the NA side closed out the game 19-16 to advance to Saturday's semi finals.
