It took five games at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023, but we finally had a best of three go all three maps as G2 took down OG.
A back and forth affair, it took until the decider map Inferno for one of G2's Bosnian's to decide they had had enough and secure his team's place in the semi finals.
With three maps to get through, let's take you though the action.
There was a rare treat on Mirage - G2 captain HooXi top fragged in the 16-11 victory. With 24 kills to his name he was the best player on the server and a key reason as to why G2 picked up 11 T side rounds.
It was OG who actually started the brightest as they went into the half with a 10-5 lead. k1to and nexa were the stars, they both picked up 14 kills each as they managed to carve out entries to give OG solid foundations into the rounds.
Things quickly fell apart for OG in the second half, however, as G2 went on a seven round winning streak to put themselves into the lead on their map pick. OG responded with a round, but it was meaningless as G2 bounced back with four more rounds to close out the game 16-11.
With G2 winning OG's map win, many would have expected this to become the sixth successive 2-0 of the Showdown, but OG had other ideas.
FASHR turned on, his 28 kills in the 16-13 win was ten more that his closest teammate, regali. With 15 of those coming on the CT side, he was the only player positive for OG as he drove them to seven rounds in the first half.
A team performance on the T side saw OG secure the map win over G2 with a 9-5 second half. On the side of G2, it was only jks who went positive with his 23 kills.
G2's Bosnian duo had struggled in the opening two maps, but as the third map begun, it was clear that huNter- had decided it was his time to shine.
27-11 in the final map, he was a constant threat on the T side as he pulled off a 19-8 half. Despite this, the half was reasonably even, and the teams went in 9-6 in favour of G2 at the break.
OG weren't as fortunate on their T side, the international squadron only managed to pick up a single round in the second half. G2 remained on top, and HooXi joined in with huNter-'s fun as he picked up nine CT kills and G2 closed out the map and series 16-7.
