Cloud9 confirm second Showdown final of the year with win versus G2

In one of the biggest spectacles of the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown so far, Cloud9 took down G2 in the second European semi final. The Russian team has now booked their place in the final where they will face BIG.

The final will be a replay of the BLAST Premier Spring showdown final.

A 2-1 victory where maps were traded back and forth, let's get into the action.

Cloud9 start strong on Anubis

Cloud9 may have won Anubis 16-9, but they were on the back foot at half time following a 9-6 T half from their opponents.

jks and m0NESY starred for G2 in that first half, jks' 14 kills and m0NESY's 1.56 T side HLTV rating is representative of their impact on the half.

A map characterised by the strengths of both teams' T sides, Cloud9 brutalised G2 after they switched sides and won ten rounds on the bounce. sh1ro and H0bbit were key in that run, the duo picked up 13 and 12 kills respectively to help their team close out the map 16-9.

G2 close out close Inferno game

Cloud9 carried their momentum into the opening pistol round of Inferno, but G2 quickly shifted the map in their favour by winning the next three rounds. The Russians then had a mild fight back, but the international squad led 10-5 at the break.

jks was once again the difference maker for G2 in that run, his 15 kills was only bettered by Ax1Le's 16 in the first half.

Cloud9 also had a strong T side, they won six of the first seven rounds as they looked to swing the map in their favour. It wasn't enough for the Russians though, G2 recorded six CT rounds to close out the game 16-13.

Cloud9 dominate CT side Ancient

Sent to a decider map, H0bbit once again put the game on his back with 17 kills in a 10-5 CT half. electorNic and sh1ro were solid secondary figures, they both recorded 14 kills as G2 limped to the second half.

sh1ro continued that form into the second half, the AWPer picked up another 13 frags on the way to victory. Ax1Le also stepped up, his 14 kills and 2.10 T side HLTV rating took his tally up to 25 for the game.

A comfortable victory for Cloud9, G2 will be kicking themselves that they couldn't have performed better to secure their spot at BLAST Premier Fall Final.
