In a repeat game of our BLAST Premier Spring Showdown final, BIG took on Cloud9 in what proved to be a thrilling final match for European sides in BLAST competition.
Just as with Spring Showdown, it was the Germans who ended up on the losing side of things, but they put up a valiant effort in that defeat.
With two maps to get throuhg, let's get into the action.
Ancient has been a strong map for BIG in recent months, so it's no surprise that they picked the map heading into the series.
They started well too, a pistol round win and wins in the following two rounds set them up 3-0 on their T side. Cloud9 tied the scores, but with four more consecutive rounds going the way of BIG, the Russian side had to dig deep to swing the map 8-7 in their favour at the half.
Ax1Le was instrumental in that CT side, a continuation of a strong event for the star Cloud9 rifler, he picked up 16 kills in that first half to counter the 15 put on the board by tabseN.
Ax1Le continued strong on the T side, his 15 kills took his tally to 31 as Cloud9 once again began the half of the back foot following four round wins at the start of the half from BIG. electroNic was also strong in the second half, he put up 14 kills as Cloud9 closed out the map 16-13.
Switching over to Anubis, Cloud9 won their first pistol round of the series on their CT side and opened the map with a 3-0 lead. Ax1Le, Perfecto, and electroNic starred in the half, the first two recorded 11 kills each and electroNic added a further ten as Cloud9 closed out the half 8-7 up.
s1n and Krimbo were impressive for BIG in that first half with 15 and 12 kills respectively, and despite a negative CT side KD, s1n kept up the fragging on the CT side with a further ten kills as BIG picked up the first five rounds of the half.
In the end it came down to Perfecto and sh1ro each picking up 1.61 HLTV ratings on their T side as Cloud9 rounded out the map with eight straight round wins to close out the map 16-12.
