There was much excitement to see Complexity at BLAST Premier Fall Groups because of their signing of NA superstar EliGE, and while that started well, a strong of defeats mean they will now need the Fall Showdown in order to qualify for Fall Final.
A team that showed bags of potential to become the team to make NA great again, it became clear that realising that potential will take time, and Fall Groups came too soon for that.
Complexity started their time in Copenhagen as well as they could have hoped for. Facing NIP with a returning hampus, the Swedes may have won the opening map Inferno due to the exploits of k0nfig, but the NA side battled back through their new talisman.
EliGE would pick up 53 kills across Nuke and Overpass, including an impressive 16 kills in his new spot of Outside on CT side Nuke. Displaying impressive chemistry already between himself and coL AWPer hallzerk, the duo instantly built up a lot of hope for this new lineup.
Sadly, this form would not continue for the rest of the event.
Their following match, Group A's Upper Final against BLAST.tv Paris Major winners Vitality, was a blowout. Complexity were trounced 16-1 on Inferno. A typically T-sided map, Complexity only managed to pick up a single round on their T side as Spinx's 21 CT side kills helped keep both bombsites on lock.
Complexity's struggles against Vitality continued on Vertigo, where, although they would pick up five more rounds in a 16-6 loss, they were still powerless to stop the onslaught from ZywOo and co.
In the Consolidation Final against NIP, Complexity looked to be in a great position to once again take down the Swedish squadron. A 16-9 loss on Mirage and subsequent 16-7 win on Overpass had the series tied at 1-1, and with Complexity 15-11 up on Nuke, they looked all but certain to take the series home. As has often been the case with Complexity, however, reaching 15 simply isn't enough for them to be comfortable to close out the game, and in classic Complexity style they would choke and concede the series following a 22-20 overtime defeat.
Having been knocked down into the Gauntlet, Complexity were set to face Astralis for a chance to play their former NA rivals Liquid to qualify for Fall Final. Astralis, who had struggled thus far in Copenhagen turned up with a point to prove, and as blameF jumped for joy following the map veto, it became clear their point would be proven come the end of the series.
Vertigo was somewhat close, Complexity began the map by racing to a 7-2 lead. But as Astralis found their way back into the map, the NA side would only win five more rounds as the score ended 16-12.
Overpass wasn't close at all. A masterclass by blameF, Astralis' new IGL finished with 27 kills, 137 ADR, and a 2.30 HLTV Rating as he squashed Complexity at every step.
