While yesterday we watched two exciting games from Group A, today was the turn of Group B and the opening game of Group C.
With four completely new rosters making their debut, it's been one of the most intriguing days in recent Counter-Strike memory, so how did they day go down?
Just like Evil Geniuses on day one, you have to feel at least a little bit sorry for BIG. An organisation that has put faith in it's academy players, those players experienced one of the hardest introductions to tier one they possibly could when they faced the world's number one team, Heroic.
Heroic's pack riflers had a whale of a time against them, finishing as the top two on the team's scoreboard over the series. TeSeS was the star on Overpass with a 23-15 scoreline, while stavn then took over to provide a 22-16 scoreline on Inferno.
It wasn't all doom and gloom for BIG, both Krimbo and mantuu looked strong and showed glimpses of the team's potential to frag on par with the world's best. However, to truly do so, more will be required from s1n, tabseN, and prosus, with the trio struggling on both maps.
16-7 on Overpass and 16-8 Inferno, given the respective periods of time these two teams have been together, these score lines were probably to be expected. A result BIG shouldn't feel down about, it's good to see Heroic are still just as strong after the player break.
The most exciting game of the day saw NAVI's newly international squadron face off against a gla1ve-less Astralis. A three-map affair, it was the formerly Ukrainian team that took the series.
Unsurprisingly, s1mple was the star for NAVI, the GOAT put 61 kills on the board over the three maps. His opposite number, device, mustered 58, but was eclipsed only just by the new captain blameF's 60.
Astralis started the series well with a relatively comfortable 16-8 scoreline on Ancient. A map that has historically been strong for the Danish squad, they kept that going here against NAVI's revamped roster.
That was as good as it got for Astralis though, NAVI soon turned the series on its head with a dominant 16-6 scoreline on Nuke. Following it up with a 16-12 on Overpass, NAVI's roster debuted with a strong win.
The final squad making their debut today was OG, but unlike NAVI, they didn't do so with a win. Having to go up against the titans of FaZe Clan, they couldn't have had many harder starts, and in truth, they shouldn't be too disheartened with the result.
With a close 16-14 on Inferno, OG easily could have won the game if they had gotten a footing in their CT side quicker. regali displayed his ability to dominate tier one with a 27-14 individual scoreline, including an impressive 1v3 clutch with his AWP on the A site.
Mirage was a different story. A strong map for FaZe, both Twistzz and broky had their fun as FaZe won the map 16-9. rain was also strong, while regali's weaker performance on the map was felt by OG.
A solid debut for OG, they could have got a positive result against a different opponent. As for FaZe, once again they displayed why they are one of the best teams in the world, and if they can keep up that level, they could be back at the top in no time at all.
