The Esports World Cup is a massive, eight-week event set to take place this summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Starting in 2024, it is set to be an annual event in the future.
The event, which will have a prize pool of upwards of $60,000,000 will feature a total game list of 19 games, each with a unique tournament across the eight-week calendar.
From these tournaments, a points system will be allocated to the esports organisations across the various games to determine the inaugural Esports World Cup champions.

The Esports World Cup will feature 19 different games, making it one of the biggest esports events in history.
A statement on the Esports World Cup says
"Esports World Cup aspires to encompass the most prominent esports games today, as well as up-and-coming games. While we have already secured many game titles, we are committed to unveiling the full game lineup to demonstrate our equitable treatment of all game publishers and to communicate the event's true scale to the entire community. Stay tuned for the comprehensive game lineup announcement in the following months."
Although this means the full list of games that will be played at the Esports World Cup is unknown, we do know that there will be a CS2 tournament during the EWC.
The other games so far confirmed for the EWC games list is as follows:
Although it isn't yet clear how the points system will work during the Esports World Cup, it is clear that the points system will be used to define a true champion.
A statement on the EWC website reads "Introducing our esports clubs cross-game ranking system to bring new excitement to all – game publishers, players, and fans.
As each athlete competes in a game, their respective clubs will accumulate points based on their performance. The culmination of this cross-game ranking will occur after the last competition at Esports World Cup, determining the standing of each club.
The top-performing esports club will be honoured with the prestigious trophy and can legitimately say that they are the best esports club in the world. Additionally, clubs who finish at the top of the rankings will receive dedicated prize money."
This means that if a team gets multiple high-placed finishes across multiple disciplines, that team will then have a good chance of becoming the Esports World Cup 2024 champion.
It could also mean that a team that places within the top four across multiple games could be the EWC champion for 2024 even if they don't win any of the events.
Additionally, it says that a section of the Esports World Cup prize pool will be allocated towards this points system, offering greater financial incentives for all teams involved.
