The second season of 2024 is almost about to begin and unlike many of the years before it, there is currently no clear team of the year to date.
Spirit and MOUZ have won two trophies each, but NAVI’s Major win and FaZe’s consistent deep runs have put them all within the conversation for the best team of the year.
With that accolade still up for grabs, we asked some of the BLAST Premier talent to give their thoughts and predictions for which top team will be the most successful in the second half of 2024.
Astralis, it's time, it's been time for some time now. The truth is, it can only be "time" for a certain amount of time before they run out of time, but it isn't that time yet.
I think Vitality will be the best team in the second half of 2024. I don't know exactly why to be quite honest, as the field of teams are incredibly close.
You could easily make a case for Spirit, FaZe, and perhaps even MOUZ at this point too. There is something that tells me ZywOo once again will come out and play better in the second half of the year which is a big factor in that.
Likewise, I do think apEX and the boys haven't quite been satisfied with how the first six months went, so the motivation to do well should be good. Coin toss really, but if I have to pick one, then I would say Vitality.
The obvious answer here is Spirit. They started the year off with an IEM Katowice win and ended the first half of the season by claiming the top spot at BLAST Premier Spring Finals. If they keep building on that momentum and donk keeps clicking heads, I think they'll be in contention for one of the best teams in the world in the second half of 2024.
However, saying that, I don't think you can ever write off FaZe. It hasn't been the start to the year that they'd want but I think they've likely used this player break to reset and karrigan probably spent most of it prepping his next big plays. So I have them in contention as well. I think we'll see a FaZe return to dominance as the year closes out.
Even though we’re looking at an incredibly competitive landscape in today’s Counter-Strike, I believe Spirit will edge the rest of the playing field slightly by the end of 2024. They have already shown supremely high peaks, racked two trophies and their consistency is impressive. They show no signs of stopping. They will be the team to take down.
