Kicking off our final BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2024 was Virtus.pro and BIG.
The Germans recently faced disappointment as they failed to qualify for the RMR for the PGL Copenhagen Major, and their morale will be further be dampened as they faced defeat in their opening match at Spring Groups.
Let's see how the action unfolded.
Overpass is typically a CT-sided map, but clearly Virtus.pro didn't get the memo - they kicked off the map with a 4-0 start on their T side.
They continued strong, too, and captain Jame closed out the half with a classic 1v3 to take his team 8-4 ahead.
The Germans barely had a chance in their T half, they won just one round as VP quickly wrapped up the map with a 13-5 scoreline. FL1T was by far the best player, his 21 kills put him seven kills away from the second-highest fragger on the server, prosus.
Map two started exactly how map one did - VP picked up four rounds from the get-go.
BIG fared better this time, they managed to tie the game by the break as the teams went in 6-6. That doesn't mean that it was easy though, tension was high and tabseN let everyone in the studio know about it.
The second half also followed a similar path, VP opened it up with five straight round wins.
BIG managed to get a couple of rounds in, but their comeback was cut short as Jame once again put on his clutching boots to help close out the game 13-8
Virtus.pro will now await either Cloud9 or Heroic in the winners match while BIG will also be watching for the outcome of that game to see who they will play in their elimination game.
