Published by strategy experts Hooded Horse, Nova Roma joins a roster of successes. Even in its Early Access phase the game has a ton of content to offer and a comprehensive water physics system that blows our minds (especially given the 900mb file size)
As is the case with any city builder, you can rely on random generation for your first builds, but nailing the perfect setting is key to min-maxing the most satisfying city one can build. With that in mind, we believe we’ve just found Nova Roma’s best possible map seed.

We don’t like to waste your time here so, if you’re only here for the map seed, you have it. Go crazy! If you’d like to know more about it, stick around and we’ll enlighten you.

There are a few things to keep in mind when hunting for the best possible map seed in Nova Roma. The most important among those, though, are water, stone, and iron.
Water is the basis for all your Nova Roma cities. You need it to feed your citizens and, using terrain manipulation and dams, you can craft the perfect rivers to create fertile land.
Stone, Iron, and Marble are the three most important resources to farm— besides wood, of course, but you can find it pretty much everywhere. A good seed has easy access to all these resources but, ideally, not in a central position. You don’t want to have your Quarries and Mines close to your houses.
Lastly, we have mountains. What defines Nova Roma is its complex water simulation physics. As you progress into mid and late game, you’ll need to create a system of Aqueducts to carry water throughout your entire city, but these need gravity to work.
So, unless you want to spend a ton of resources building a gigantic dam, you’ll rely on mountains to ensure that water always flows downwards. Our seed fits all those boxes.

In the seed identifier, L means Land and M means Medium, so this only works as a Medium Land. If you’re interested, we can hunt for a similar setup in different varieties, but we believe this is the best possible setup.
The Island setup breaks up your territory into smaller parts, for example, three small islands with one river each. Large territories had everything too far apart, but we’ll keep doing some research to see if we can find a better setup on a larger scale.
LMN336064034 has a few different versions, just press Enter until you find the one we’re showing above— it is important to press Enter and not “Generate Map”, or it will keep generating new seeds.
While the other versions also tick all of the same boxes, they aren’t as perfect. This version has a ton of clear land and has everything concentrated on the same side, which is ideal.
As you can see, we have three rivers in close proximities, all starting in nearby mountains. You have the option to build three separate dams eventually, but you can get your water flow working via Aqueducts alone if you build your city in the valley between the mountains.
You have close access to fish in the East and North coasts. There is a large Stone deposit South of the central clearing and, crucially, the North edge of the map has a massive concentration of crucial resources: two Iron Deposits, three Marble deposits, a Fishing area, and it is all packed with Trees.
Let us know what you think of LMN336064034. Is this the best possible seed for your Nova Roma cities?
