Although it hasn't yet been fully released, Deadlock is taking the gaming world by storm.
A new third-person FPS MOBA made by Valve is already racking up over 100,000 players each day and all the top streamers are playing it, leaving the average Joe asking how they can get access to Deadlock.
More and more players are getting invited every day, so it's not actually that difficult, and fortunately, there are multiple methods you can use to get access to Deadlock.
Deadlock is a game that will be most familiar to players of League of Legends, DOTA 2, and SMITE.
Primarily a MOBA, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena for the uninitiated, the game features classic MOBA gameplay with hereos, abilities, and items that can be bought across the map to make your hero stronger.
However, the big difference between Deadlock and games like League or DOTA is that the game also doubles up as a third-person shooter, an aspect that makes Deadlock unique to all other MOBAs.
Another major difference with Deadlock to other MOBAs is that the map has four lanes and six players to a team, as opposed to three lanes and five players in more classic MOBAs.
Other key differences include a lack of consumable items and Wards, which in League of Legends, gives visibility across the map, helping to protect players from being ganked.
Deadlock is a game that is easy to learn and hard to master, so learning how to play Deadlock isn't hard at all.
In the hero select screen, players are asked to pick at least three characters to play as, and they can place a preference upon which of those characters they will get by right-clicking the character.
When players load into the game, they are assigned a lane and can choose one of their three abilities to unlock first.
Players are then sent to their respective lanes for the laning phase. In this phase, the important thing is to take down as many of the opposing team's minions as possible and build up souls to buy items and become stronger than the enemy in your lane.
As well as this, you also want to try and keep your enemy from pushing up and fighting your Guardian, as this will put you at a disadvantage.
The aim of the game is to take out the enemy team's lane Guardians, Walkers, Base Guardians, Shrines, and Patron in order to win the game. Taking out all of these things will give you more souls and extra slots in order to spend these slots.
Although the Deadlock playtest was originally hard to get access to, since the embargo on talking about the game has been lifted, the player base is constantly expanding.
There are three ways to get access to the Deadlock playtest, which will will now explain:
The first method of gaining access to the Deadlock playtest is by having a friend who already has access.
Anyone who has Deadlock has unlimited chances to invite people to play the game, so as long as you're on their friend's list, you can ask them to invite you to Deadlock and you should get access to the game within two days.
The second method of getting access to Deadlock's playtest is by going to the games Community Hub.
Deadlock's Community Hub is full of people looking to invite new players to the game, you simply just have to add them to your friends list and they will send the invite.
Of course, there's nothing to say all of these people are legitimate and have no ulterior motives, but if you want to get Deadlock early, it might just be the best way to do so.
No, seriously, emailing Gabe Newell has worked for one lucky player who is now enjoying the Deadlock playtest.
While we don't recommend everyone tries this because the big man might get annoyed, if you ham it up a bit like the guy who used this method of getting access to Deadlock did, you might just be lucky.
Now, let's say you've followed one of these methods and have access to Deadlock, but none of your friends have access and you're a bit lonely.
If that is the case, then in the next part of this guide we'll tell you how to invite your friends to Deadlock.
To invite friends to Deadlock, follow these steps:
After following all the steps in this guide on how to get access to Deadlock, you should now be able to play Valve's new MOBA before it even releases.
Enjoy the game, provide feedback where you feel is necessary, and get ahead before the game releases and truly becomes the next big thing.
